The IGB has provided a solid foundation for future growth in the state of Illinois. Our scientists have generated more than 75 invention disclosures, 35 patent applications, and over a thousand scholarly journal articles since the founding of the Institute.

Where Science Meets Society
IGB Faculty Member Receives Packard Fellowship
Doug Mitchell, Assistant Professor of Chemistry and a faculty member of the Mining Microbial Genomes theme, was awarded a 2012 Packard Fellowship in Science and Engineering from the David and Lucile Packard Foundation. Designed to support highly creative researchers in the natural and physical sciences or engineering, only 16 Fellowships are awarded each year to professors early in their careers
