Entrepreneurship and Innovation
Bringing together Research and Industry
To provide post-doctoral associates, students, and faculty with an environment, resources, networking and the exposure necessary to become a successful innovator and entrepreneur.
Academics and business leaders are realizing that science, technology and business are no longer separate entities, but actually require each other to thrive.
Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology provide an opportunity for academics to combine their scientific and technological background with business methodologies. Currently, the IGB offers a lecture series to introduce scientists to intellectual property, business fundamentals, venture funding and the Illinois entrepreneurial ecosystem. These lectures will be enhanced by an in depth learning program with both classes and workshops that is currently being designed.
The expertise and skills that you develop through this program will provide the knowledge to meet the challenges of managing an academic or industrial laboratory or business.
Fox Family Innovation and Entrepreneurship Lecture Series
The Fox family and the IGB have partnered to bring a series of speakers to discuss all aspects of innovation and entrepreneurship. Past speakers have included members from the Office of Technology Management and the Technology Entrepreneur Center on campus, to external speakers from public and private industry. The calendar of events is updated frequently, please check here for the most recent updates.
