Mark Hauber joins the IGB

Professor Mark Hauber has joined the IGB as an affiliate member in the Gene Networks in Neural and Developmental Plasticity (GNDP) Research Theme.  He recently joined the Department of Animal Biology as the Harley Jones Van Cleave Professor of Host-Parasite Interactions. Previously he served as associate provost for research at Hunter College, and as associate vice chancellor for research at the City University of New York. Professor Hauber's research focuses on the evolution of recognition systems, and using land and seabirds to address questions about how individuals recognize themselves, their mates, their young, their prey and their predators.

Joseph Irudayaraj joins the IGB

Professor Joseph Irudayaraj has joined the IGB as an affiliate member in the Omics Nanotechnology for Cancer Precision Medicine (ONC-PM) Research Theme. He joined the faculty at the University of Illinois as a Founder Professor in Bioengineering, and associate head for graduate programs in the Department of Bioengineering.  He comes to Illinois from Purdue University, where he served as a professor of Biological Engineering and deputy director of the Bindley Biosciences Center.  Professor Irudayaraj conducts bionanotechnology research, developing nano diagnostic tools to understand cellular mechanisms that could lead to targeted therapies or better prognoses for cancer or neurodegenerative diseases.

Shannon Sirk joins the IGB

Professor Shannon Sirk has joined the IGB as an affiliate member in the Microbiome Metabolic Engineering (MME) Research Theme. She recently joined the Department of Bioengineering as an Assistant Professor.  Professor Sirk received her Ph.D. from UCLA, and subsequently was a postdoctoral research associate at the Scripps Research Institute and Stanford University.  Her research aims to harness the natural power of microbes to develop biological therapeutics that can treat cancer and other diseases.

Lisa McClellan joins the IGB

Lisa McClellan has joined the IGB Business Office as an Account Technician I, working with the Grants Team.  Lisa has most recently worked at Dow AgroSciences-Mycogen Seeds for 18 years, the last ten years as the Administrative Assistant.

Traci Johnson joins the IGB

Traci Johnson has joined the IGB as a Grants and Contracts Specialist working in the Business Office.  Traci transferred from the University of Illinois Foundation where she focused on working with gift funds.  She received her BA from the University of Illinois in 2011 with a focus on Agricultural Communications.

Madison Huckstep joins the IGB

Madison Huckstep has joined the IGB as an Account Technician I, working with the Communications and Outreach Group. She graduated from Illinois State University in 2016 with a BS in Business Administration. Previously, she worked for CCRS in Bevier Hall as an Office Assistant.

Lori McLain joins the IGB

Lori McLain has joined the IGB as a BAA-Business & Procurement Specialist, working in the Business office. Lori transferred from the College of Veterinary Medicine where she was also a Business & Procurement Specialist working with Administration, Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians to provide pharmaceuticals and durable medical products for both the large and small animal hospital. She received her BS at Millikin University in 2010 and has worked with the University for 5.5 years.
