About CAIM

Scientists in the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Modeling (CAIM) unravel complicated scientific processes using modeling and machine learning

As our experiments grow more technologically advanced, so too does the data we collect. The scale of data collected, and the integrative models necessary to analyze that data, calls for biologists and computer scientists to come together. The Center for Artificial Intelligence and Modeling (CAIM) brings together biologists, machine learning scientists, and computational modelers, to share their expertise.

First, biologists generate new data through experiments. Then computational modelers build mechanistic models to understand the physical processes behind that data, essentially the reasons behind the patterns in the data. Then computer scientists use machine learning and AI that learns these patterns, and can be used to make predictions based on new data.
