Illinois IGB

MS MANTIS club May 27

Are you interested in science, art, drawing, tea, or good company?

If so, our new scientific illustration club is for you! No art experience necessary. Join our casual monthly meetups to drink tea and engage in whatever illustration project you are currently working on, stuck on, or avoiding. No project in the pipeline? No problem! A scientific specimen and basic drawing supplies will be provided at each meeting.

Feel free to bring your lunch and any art supplies necessary for your personal project.

Art Lab Pollen Party

In the lead-up to National Pollinator Week (June 22–26), patrons of all ages are invited to take part in a variety of pollination-themed crafts at this drop-in style event. Join us in creating nectar guide flowers, staining, observing, and drawing pollen under a microscope, and drawing or sculpting your favorite flowers and pollinators. While you work, scientists from the Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology will be present to help with the craft and answer questions about pollinators. Come learn more about the importance of pollinators while creating art inspired by them!

The Library is committed to making programs accessible for all. If you need an accommodation to attend a program, please let the Library know at least two weeks in advance. To request an accommodation, contact the Programming and Outreach Manager via email at programming@urbanafree.org or via phone at 217-367-4057.
