  • Research Communication Fellowship, RIPE
    The Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and the Realizing Increased Photosynthetic Efficiency (RIPE) project is offering a Research Communication Fellowship for scholars who have completed their PhD in Biology, Biotechnology, Crop Sciences, or a related field within the last 5 years and have one year of experience with science communication. The fellow should possess excellent written and oral communication skills and have experience with team science. The Research Communication Fellow will be responsible for internal and external communications, produce written scientific content, create project synthesis figures, share research and communications updates with funders, draft and disseminate internal RIPE team communications, support communications with funders, and coordinate public engagement content in support of RIPE research endeavors. Duties may include writing articles and/or press releases about scientific research or researchers on the RIPE project, coordinating interviews with RIPE PIs and other faculty and campus leadership, synthesizing material for RIPE communication events, coordinating sessions for the annual RIPE meeting, sharing best practices relating to communications with the funders, and serving on the funder’s communications committee. This position is not fully remote.   • Seeking a Postdoc for the FLUdetect Study
    The FLUdetect is a unique clinical study aimed at understanding viral and immune dynamics in humans to shape testing, vaccination, and transmission control strategies for the influenza virus. You will supervise laboratory staff and investigate flu and other respiratory viruses in clinical samples collected through the study. Furthermore, you will establish and conduct immunological assays to evaluate how the immune status of study participants changes during infection.
