Local bat biologists and educators invite you to this first annual FREE event! There will be something for all ages and levels of bat enthusiasts including exhibitors, guest speakers, kids’ activities, information on bat conservation and more. Daytime activities will be located in and around the Urbana Park District’s Anita Purves Nature Center from 1-4pm. Evening activities will be held at Crystal Lake Park, with a central location at the Lake House from 5:30–8:30pm and will include looking and listening for bats at dusk!

The Imaging Technology Group and the IGB Core will be co-hosting a half day X-ray CT workshop. Talks covering theory, the instrumentation available on campus, and current research projects will be presented along with tours of both the ITG and IGB facilities. Art Lab: Print a Petal is a free 90-minute art and science workshop. Attendees will create impressions of botanicals using gel printing pads. While you work, you will hear from scientists at the Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology about how they image and study plants. Our artist and scientist team will be there to guide you through creating these stunning images. Registered attendees will take home their own gel printing pad and roller at the end of the workshop! This program is sponsored in part by an Urbana Arts and Culture Grant.
