The 2025 IGB Undergraduate Research Showcase gives undergraduates the opportunity to come together and showcase the research being done at the Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology. We encourage all undergraduates who are currently involved in research to present their work as either a data blitz or a poster. The IGB Undergraduate Research Showcase will be held on April 23, 2025 from 3-5 PM. 

Awards

Prizes will be awarded to exhibitors and presenters for a variety of categories.

  • Judges will be present during undergraduate presentations to provide a small monetary award for research or travel purposes for the following categories:
    • Best Overall Presentation
    • Most Interdisciplinary
    • Most Innovative

Application Requirements

  • Faculty advisor must be an IGB member or an affiliate
  • Must have undergraduate standing at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, or have graduated within the past academic year

Apply to Present

The Undergraduate Research Showcase will provide undergraduates involved in IGB-related research to present their work during a Data Blitz or Poster session. For data blitzes, each presenter will have 5 minutes to present their work: 3 minutes for presenting and 2 minutes allocated for questions.  To be considered for a Data Blitz, you must submit an abstract describing your research project goals, methods, and outcomes. Abstracts must be submitted by 11:59 PM on March 12, 2025. Abstract length should not exceed 300 words.

Please list the person in your lab primarily overseeing your work (e.g., graduate student, postdoc, faculty member)
Please list the faculty member who oversees the laboratory the research was completed in.
